IWS Engineering Ltd was appointed to conduct an independent MEP peer review for the proposed hotel development at 17 Corsham Street, in the heart of Shoreditch, London. This review focused on evaluating the MEP design package prepared by MCS against the operational and design standards required by YOTEL.
The objective was to ensure the proposed design aligns with brand-specific performance expectations, regulatory requirements, and best industry practices while also highlighting areas for enhancement.

The 50-57 Newman Street Hotel project is located in Westminster, Newman Street, a regular hangout for artists, poets, writers in the early nineteenth century. Virginia Woolf, George Orwell, George Bernard Shaw and contemporaries frequented the Fitzroy Tavern, a landmark on Newman.
Inspired by the intellectual history of the street, project's concept is designed to revive that intellectual atmosphere by Designist. The luxury hotel will feature 90 rooms catering to affluent local and international guests. Facilities will include a VIP Club and a wellness centre with a spa.
IWS is in charge of the MEP (M&E) engineering design services covering mechanical, electrical, public health and fire protection building service designs for the 50-57 Newman Street Hotel Project.

Stage 2 – Concept Design: Development of initial MEP strategies aligned with conservation requirements. Load assessments and preliminary plant space allocation, Early coordination with architect and structural engineer. Identification of sustainable solutions with low visual impact
Stage 3 – Spatial Coordination (Developed Design): Detailed coordination of MEP systems within heritage constraints. Preparation of design drawings and outline specifications. Ventilation and drainage strategy in compliance with listed building approvals. Conceptual plant selection and riser/void planning
Stage 4 – Technical Design: Integration of building services with conservation-led structural solutions. Design of discreet lighting, comfort cooling and heating systems. Detailed schematics, equipment schedules and performance specifications
